UAS UMR Cares – April: Mental Health
April showers can bring more than warmer weather and blossoming flowers. Spring has officially arrived, and with it comes a time of new beginnings, self-reflection, and rejuvenation. This is why now is the perfect opportunity for you to take some time to prioritize your mental and emotional well-being. Engaging in a range of outdoor social activities, such as daily walks or hikes, gardening, and sports can have a huge impact on your everyday mood and overall health.
When you feel like you could use some additional assistance improving your mental health, consider taking advantage of the university-provided resources available to you, and use them to create a lasting foundation for good mental and emotional well-being all year round:
- UAMS HealthNow: Receive virtual urgent care for concerns such as depression, anxiety, and/or stress with the HealthNow mental health hotline. Note: You do not need to be enrolled in a university medical plan to use this benefit.
- Talkspace: This mental health service allows you to connect with a licensed therapist anytime, anywhere via private messaging or live video sessions.
- Assistance programs: For help tackling life’s issues — big or small — you have someone to lean on. Get 24/7 phone access to specialists, or meet face-to-face with a counselor.
- Annual leave: Sometimes the best way to reset and recharge is to take a mental health day, or two! The university offers paid time off so you can get away or have a staycation.
