UAS UMR Cares – October: Women’s Health

Maintaining well-being through healthy habits such as sufficient sleep and balanced nutrition is important, and there are additional ways women can attend to their health.

The university provides the following sponsored benefits to assist you:

  • Regular health checkups: In addition to annual checkups with a primary care physician (PCP), it is important for women to visit certain specialists regularly, like a gynecologist. Annual checkups bring to light issues like high blood pressure, various types of cancer and diabetes, which could be prevented or treated when they are less severe.
  • Age-appropriate care: With every age comes with its own blessings and challenges, and that is why tailored, age-appropriate care is important. Download the Women’s Preventive Services Initiative Well-Woman Care Chart for information on what care is recommended at each age.
  • Mental health resources: Regardless of whether you want to talk to someone in person or from the comfort of your own home, benefits are available to fit your needs. Visit the Mental Health Resources page for more information.
  • Wellness benefits: If you’re enrolled in the UMR Live Well Reward$ Program or one of the UHC insurance plans, you can receive compensation for getting wellness screenings, tests and assessments annually.
  • UMR health programs: All three medical plans provide a variety of health programs designed to help achieve health goals, stay on track with treatment plans, and manage chronic conditions. Learn more about the disease management and health coaching programs on the Medical page under UMR Programs.
