How to Enroll

To make sure you have the right coverage all year round for you and your family, it’s important to know how and when you should enroll in benefits.

Health and Wellness

Your health and wellness benefits include:

Supplemental Plans

There are three supplemental health insurance plans you can enroll in:

  • Critical Illness
  • Hospital Indemnity
  • Accident Protection

You can only enroll in these benefits when you first become an employee at the university, when you experience a qualifying life event, or during our annual open enrollment period. This means, outside of being a new hire or experiencing a major life change, you only have one opportunity during the year to enroll, opt in to the wellness program, or make changes to these specific benefit options. You must complete your enrollment through Workday.

Important! If you’re enrolled in the Classic or Premier medical plan, then you qualify for lower out-of-pocket limits and can earn wellness rewards by opting in to UMR’s Live Well Reward$ Wellness Program. Through this program, you can earn online cash incentives by completing certain wellness activities, screenings and assessments. You must opt in on umr.com during open enrollment to be eligible for savings the following year.

Voluntary Benefits

Your voluntary benefits are optional and are also available to you and your family. These benefits are eligible for enrollment throughout the year, so you don’t have to wait until open enrollment to enroll. Voluntary benefits include:

Enroll through Workday for all voluntary benefits except Farmers GroupSelect Auto and Home Insurance. Pre-existing condition waiting periods and Evidence of Insurability (EOI) may apply.

To enroll in Farmers GroupSelect Auto and Home Insurance, call 800-974-6755 and state that you work for the University of Arkansas.

If you have any questions about your benefits or how to enroll in them, contact your campus Human Resources Office.
