UAS UMR Cares – December: Healthy Eating Habits

Achieving a well-balanced diet starts with making thoughtful choices about the foods you eat each day.

Quick tip: Try to fill half your plate with colorful vegetables and fruits, choose whole grains like brown rice or whole wheat bread, and opt for lean sources of protein such as chicken, fish, beans, or tofu.

Equally important is knowing which foods to limit. Excessive consumption of sugary drinks, fast foods, refined grains, and processed snacks can contribute to weight gain, decreased energy and poor nutrition. Instead of reaching for sodas or chips, choose water, herbal teas or fresh snacks like nuts and fruit. Moderation is key — enjoy your favorite treats occasionally, but try not to let them dominate your daily intake.

Remember, a balanced diet is just one step toward a healthier lifestyle. Pair your nutrition efforts with regular exercise, sufficient sleep and limited alcohol/tobacco to support your overall well-being and reduce your risk of chronic health conditions.
