You can enroll in employee-pay-all critical illness insurance through UnitedHealthcare, which pays a lump-sum benefit to you for covered medical conditions.
Benefits can be used to pay copays and deductibles, travel to treatment centers, child care and/or other expenses not covered by insurance, at your discretion.
What you'll pay depends on the dependents you choose to cover.
Wellness Benefit
To get even more out of your critical illness plan, there’s a wellness benefit that helps pay for preventive care and other health screenings.
Screenings must be completed during the calendar year in 2022 for new enrollments beginning on January 1, 2022.
A covered spouse can also earn a benefit.
The benefit will only be paid 1 time per calendar year, regardless of the test results or number of test performed. The benefit is paid in addition to any other payments you and/or your covered spouse receives under the policy.
You have 31 days from your initial benefits eligibility date to enroll in critical illness insurance.
If you do not enroll during your initial benefits eligibility date, you can only enroll:
During a re-enrollment period. Re-enrollment periods take place during open enrollment (in the Fall); however, every open enrollment is not a re-enrollment period for critical illness insurance. This means you may not be able to enroll in critical illness insurance for the first time every year.
