If you are unable to work because of illness or injury, you can use sick leave for paid time away from work. You can also use sick leave if you need treatment from or a consultation with a licensed health care provider. And, you can use sick leave for time off due to the death or serious illness of an immediate family member (bereavement).
You are eligible for paid sick leave if you are employed half-time or greater and are on an appointment period of nine-months or more.
