Glasses or contacts should be the last thing you have to worry about during this time. If you’ve lost, broken or damaged your eyewear due to Hurricane Idalia, EyeMed Vision Care can help through their EyeMed Cares program.
The University offers two vision plan options—the Basic Plan and the Enhanced Plan. Both plans are administered by EyeMed and pay benefits for eye examinations, prescription eyewear and contact lenses.
Under both plans, you can see a provider in the EyeMed Insight network or an out-of-network provider. However, you’ll always pay more for out-of-network services.
Save More with EyeMed Plus Providers
PLUS Providers are in the EyeMed network and help you boost your vision care savings—like a free eye exam and an additional $50 frame allowance. When you search for providers on the EyeMed website, PLUS Providers are indicated with a pink eye.

Back to school vision exams
It's back to school season and the perfect time to get your little one's eyes checked. Learn more about the benefits of vision care:
Out-of-network care will be reimbursed after you submit a claim, up to plan limits. Copays for out-of-network services will be deducted from your reimbursement.
Finding a Provider
To find a provider, go to eyemed.com and select Find an eye doctor. Then, in the Network drop-down box, choose the Insight Network. You can search by location or doctor name.
Walmart providers are also considered to be in-network providers; however, they will not show up in the Insight network search.
For assistance on the go, download the EyeMed Members App. For assistance with LASIK, call 800.988.4221.
You don’t need an ID card to use your vision benefits—just let the provider know you have EyeMed coverage when you get to your appointment.
Hurricane Idalia Vision Care Program
Glasses or contacts should be the last thing you have to worry about during this time. If you’ve lost, broken or damaged your eyewear due to Hurricane Idalia, EyeMed Vision Care can help through their EyeMed Cares program.
Through EyeMed Cares, Customer Care Center representatives are ready to provide the following services to you via a dedicated emergency toll-free line 866.652.0018:
Eligibility re-instatement: Members who have exhausted their benefit, but need new glasses or contacts lenses due to the current disaster, can request re-instatement.
Temporary Adjustable Glasses: If immediate materials are needed, a call center representative can expedite shipping these adjustable glasses to you—at no cost. These glasses enable individuals to adjust for different distances and switch focus for reading, computer and distance. If you are displaced with no immediate address, we can work with you to determine a location where they can be picked up.
Free shipping for glasses and contacts: Agents can provide discount codes that can be used online at Glasses.com and ContactsDirect.com to receive free, expedited shipping for replacement lenses and contact lenses.
We also understand the need for immediate assistance may extend beyond just members. So, we’ve partnered with OneSight, a non-profit organization that provides eye care and eyewear solutions for those in need around the globe, to provide assistance to non-EyeMed members in need. You can reach out to OneSight for assistance at 888.935.4589 or www.onesight.org—look for the Get Help link at the bottom of the web page.
