UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

As the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics, I am excited to share with you that UAMS can care for all your orthopaedic needs. We have built an outstanding group of over 50 physicians and surgeons in Central Arkansas and in Northwest Arkansas, which gives our family of friends and colleagues throughout the UA System greater access to expert orthopaedic care.

We can also provide this care more economically for you. If you are enrolled in a university medical plan, you can save on health care costs through SmartCare. This means that if you visit one of our physicians, your out-of-pocket expenses should be less than visiting a doctor outside of UAMS.

Our orthopaedic surgeons are all fellowship-trained, which means they have completed at least one extra year of education and clinical training in one of the orthopaedic areas listed below.

  • Hip and Knee Replacement
  • Foot and Ankle
  • Hand and Wrist
  • Shoulder and Elbow
  • Spine
  • Sports Medicine
  • Pediatric Orthopaedics
  • Orthopaedic Oncology
  • Orthopaedic Trauma

This means you will receive expert, specialized care for you and your family. To learn more about our doctors, please visit UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.

We also have a beautiful new hospital in Central Arkansas that is dedicated to providing you the highest quality of compassionate care and an unmatched patient experience. The Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital (TOSH) at UAMS is uniquely warm and inviting and offers the most advanced technology for bone, joint, and spine care in the region. I am glad to share that we are also building a similar facility in Northwest Arkansas.

As a UA employee, you now have exclusive access to our dedicated appointment hotlines, which gives you preferred, next-available appointments with one of our orthopaedic specialists located in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Fayetteville, and Lowell.

Central Arkansas: 501-686-8701

Northwest Arkansas: 479-713-5478

Thank you for considering us for all your orthopaedic needs.

Sincerely,

C. Lowry Barnes, M.D.
