Important Security Alert: Action Required for UMR HealthSafe Accounts

The University has been notified of a potential fraud incident involving the UMR Live Well Reward$ Wellness Program. UMR received a report from a member regarding a reward redemption request that the member did not initiate.

Following a review, UMR and UnitedHealthcare believe some HealthSafe IDs and emails may have been compromised. At this time, there is no indication that UMR’s systems were breached.

As a precaution during this investigation, the link to redeem Wellness Program rewards has been temporarily disabled. You will be notified once reward redemption access is restored.

What You Should Do Now

UMR recommends that all members take immediate steps to secure their HealthSafe accounts:

  • Change your HealthSafe password at umr.com.
  • Enable two factor authentication (2FA) on your HealthSafe account, if not already enabled.

Taking this initiative helps protect your account and reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

Protecting Your Information

When it comes to accessing information online, keep these considerations in mind to protect yourself and your data:

  • Be cautious with unexpected emails, especially those requesting personal information or urging you to click unfamiliar links.
  • Verify the sender’s email address and look for signs of spoofing or unusual formatting before responding.
  • Never download attachments or click on links from suspicious or untrusted sources.
  • If in doubt, contact the organization directly using an official phone number or website, rather than information provided in the email.
  • Keep your operating system, browser and antivirus software up to date to help detect and block phishing attempts.

Thank you for taking prompt action to help keep your benefits information secure.
