SmartCare Program

If you are enrolled in a university medical plan, you can save on health care costs through the SmartCare program, by visiting a provider at a University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) facility, the Pat Walker Health Center, or the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Health Center. You don’t have to sign up for SmartCare. If you come to a Smartcare facility for your care and are enrolled in a university medical plan, UMR will automatically apply these adjustments:

• Health Savings Plan
  • $500 reduction to individual out-of-pocket maximum; $1,000 reduction to family out-of-pocket maximum
  • After deductible is met, your coinsurance will reduce from 10 percent to five percent
• Classic Plan
  • $15 reduction to office visit copay
  • $550 reduction to individual deductible; $1,100 reduction to family deductible
  • After deductible is met, your coinsurance will reduce from 25 percent to 20 percent
  • $150 reduction to hospital inpatient admission copay
  • Waiver of copay for outpatient surgical services or mental health partial hospitalization/intensive day treatment
  • $15 reduction to therapy services (speech, physical, occupational) copay
• Premier Plan
  • $15 reduction to office visit copay
  • $300 reduction to individual deductible; $600 reduction to family deductible
  • After deductible is met, your coinsurance will reduce from 20 percent to 15 percent
  • $150 reduction to hospital inpatient admission copay
  • $15 reduction to therapy services (speech, physical, occupational) copay
  • No copay for outpatient diagnostic testing and surgical services
  • $50 reduction to advanced imaging (CT, PET, MRI) copay
